Right order of activities during job search

You can do all the right things, but still not get the results you expect.
At times the only thing you’re missing is the “right” order. The same applies to job search.

You’re taking all the right steps… following all the tips from experts… your day is filled with activities.
ok, STOP for a minute.

Today, I’d like you to think about the order of things.

Four things we all need to do as job seekers are: applying to the right jobs, networking with the right people, learning the right skills, and introspecting to know what right means.

I bet you have already realized… the order is messed up!

Here’s the order I want you to follow:

  • Introspect Deeply
  • Learn Continuously
  • Network Selflessly
  • Apply Thoughtfully

And then it will make sense. One “right” flows into the other.

  • Introspecting – tells you what you really want. So you know what’s the “right” job for you.
  • Learning – that allows you to fill your skills gaps with the “right” courses, blogs, and videos.
  • Networking – then you can share your learning with the world and attract the “right” people.
  • Applying – now you’re ready to apply to the “right” jobs with your network’s referrals.
